Schedule
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to give students fundamental physical knowledge in the fields of mechanics, mechanical oscillations and waves, and heat. This knowledge is necessary for related subjects in the syllabus of particular study programs.
Course outline
Kinematics and dynamics of a particle, Newton's laws, impulse, momentum, work, power. Kinetic and potential energy, law of the conservation of energy. Mechanics of a system of particles and bodies, rotational motion, kinetic energy of rotational motion, moment of inertia. Oscillations, harmonic oscillator, resonance. Mechanical waves, wave equation, interference of waves. Kinetic theory of ideal gas, internal energy. Thermodynamics, work, heat, heat capacity, laws of thermodynamics, entropy.
Completion conditions
Assessment and completion of the course: Credit test and examination Continuous assessment: Student passes the continuous assessment and receives credits when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 11% out of 20%. written tests Final assessment: Student passes the final assessment and passes the examination when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 41% out of 80%. written examination Overall assessment: Overall assessment is the sum of the assessments obtained by students in the assessment period. The overall result is determined in accordance with the internal regulations of the Technical University in Košice. (Study Regulations, the internal regulation principles of doctoral studies)
