Learning outcomes
The Ph.D. student will master the methods of scientific work. He will gain in-depth knowledge of the area in which the topic of the dissertation belongs. He demonstrates the ability independently to design, construct, implement and modify a substantial part of research with scientific integrity and contribute to the original research to broaden the boundaries of scientific knowledge through the implementation of an extensive set of papers, some of which are worthy of peer-reviewed process. Through intensive research, he is able to achieve original scientific results, acceptable at the international level, he can present these results in the form of scientific publications. Based on the implementation of scientific research, the graduate is considered an expert in his field.
Course outline
• Analysis of the current state in the relevant field of knowledge. • A rigorous process of acquiring new scientific knowledge. • Contribution to solving the current state of research. • Critical analysis of existing methods. • Preparation of a written work, which is evaluated by the supervisor. • Presentation in the form of a publication, contribution to a journal or conference. • Presentation of results (conference, seminar, etc.). • Participation in solving research tasks in the research team.
Completion conditions
Assessment and completion of the course: Credit test Continuous assessment: elaboration in a preprint form+presentation at DCI seminar Final assessment: Student passes the final assessment and passes the examination when he or she meets the requirement to obtain at least 1u out of 1u. elaboration as a technical report or journal paper Overall assessment: Overall assessment is the sum of the assessments obtained by students in the assessment period. The overall result is determined in accordance with the internal regulations of the Technical University in Košice. (Study Regulations, the internal regulation principles of doctoral studies)

The subject Research Activities defines the minimum requirements for outputs. Research requires a variety of outputs (participation in a Ph.D. student scientific conference, local conferences, and journals, nationally and internationally accepted outputs). The minimum requirements for completing the targets of the subject are set by regulations for Ph.D. studies.
